Divine Madubike

Board Member

Divine Madubike brings financial expertise and a passion for opportunity to his role on Buendedi’s board. As an Investment Analyst at Credigy and a graduate of Johns Hopkins University with a B.A. in Economics, Divine understands how access to resources and education can shape futures. His professional background allows him to provide strategic insight that strengthens Buendedi’s efforts to ensure education as a catalyst for lasting change.

Divine’s commitment to Buendedi is rooted in his belief that every student deserves the chance to unlock their potential. By applying his skills in financial analysis and strategic planning, he helps ensure that Buendedi operates with integrity in action and achieves sustainable impact in the communities it serves. For Divine, serving with Buendedi is more than governance—it is an investment in the next generation of Congolese leaders who will carry their communities forward.

David Mitongo

Board Member

Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, David Mitongo has always carried with him a deep desire to give back to his birthplace and community. Serving on the board of Buendedi allows him to turn that commitment into action, offering strategic guidance that keeps community first at the heart of the organization. David’s passion for education as a catalyst began with his own journey of immigration. Moving from the DRC to the United States gave him a front-row view of the stark differences between economies, sparking a lifelong question: What drives economic disparity—and how can education and opportunity close the gap? This question led him to pursue a degree in Economics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). After completing his studies, David launched a management consulting agency to help local entrepreneurs overcome business challenges. Today, he also serves as a Project Designer for Dominion Energy, one of the largest electrical distribution companies on the Mid-Atlantic coast. His combined experience in business development, economics, and infrastructure equips him to bring both vision and integrity in action to Buendedi’s leadership. David believes that lasting change is built on sustainable impact—solutions that empower people to create thriving communities for generations to come. By joining Buendedi’s board, he hopes to use his skills to bridge gaps, inspire leadership development, and help unlock the potential of Congolese communities.

Priscilla Odia

On The Ground Program Coordinator

Priscilla Odia embodies the heart of Buendedi’s mission in Kinshasa. Guided by her lifelong passion for serving youth and her community, she ensures that our work always begins with local voices and local needs. As Buendedi’s on-the-ground representative, Priscilla stands as a bridge between schools, families, and our organization—living out our belief that community comes first. Her role allows her to grow as a liaison and leader, building skills in fundraising, program management, and accounting. But for Priscilla, the true reward is seeing the transformative power of education. Every scholarship granted and every program launched is a chance to witness lives change—a reminder of how education is a catalyst for opportunity. Priscilla also carries forward Buendedi’s values of integrity in action and cultural pride. Whether coordinating partnerships or exploring ways to serve marginalized groups such as orphans and children with disabilities, she approaches each task with honesty, transparency, and deep respect for Congolese heritage. Her vision extends beyond today’s projects; she is committed to nurturing local leadership and creating sustainable impact that will empower communities long after her work is done. Since joining Buendedi in 2024 as our first on-ground program coordinator, Priscilla has been more than a representative—she has been a builder of hope. For her, being part of this movement is not just a role, but an honor.

Pierre Kapiamba Mbala

Executive Director & Founder

Pierre Kapiamba Mbala brings the discipline of engineering and the heart of service to his role as Executive Director of Buendedi. By day, Pierre works as a Project Engineer, where he supports cost controls, prevents schedule creep, and ensures quality standards. His professional role has sharpened his communication and leadership skills—strengths that directly fuel his work with Buendedi. As a Project Champion in his workplace, Pierre also encourages colleagues to volunteer and support community organizations, reflecting his belief that community comes first. The seed for Buendedi was planted in 2008 during a family celebration, where Pierre first encountered the philosophy of Buendedi and the importance of service as a way of life. That spark became a steady flame in 2018, when he founded Buendedi to address low school completion rates in the Democratic Republic of Congo. His vision: to see education as a catalyst for transformation in his home country. Since then, Pierre has grown alongside the organization, developing skills in brand cultivation, fundraising, networking, accounting, strategic planning, and program management. His leadership reflects integrity in action and cultural pride, ensuring that Buendedi uplifts communities without losing sight of their heritage. Pierre is committed to growing Buendedi into a flagship nonprofit that not only addresses Sustainable Development Goal #4: Quality Education, but expands over time to tackle Zero Hunger (#2), Good Health and Well-Being (#3), Clean Water and Sanitation (#6), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (#8). His long-term vision is to cultivate local leadership, create sustainable impact, and ensure Buendedi becomes a model of how service and opportunity can reshape Africa’s future.
